Transit travel tips

Make the most of your transit trip with these travel tips.

    • Use our Navigo trip planner to plan your trip – it will give you five options for getting where you are going
    • If the trip options seem more complicated or longer than you expect, a few small changes to your search could make a big difference.
      • You may be able to find a more direct or faster route if you consider:
        • Walking a short distance to a different starting stop
        • Expanding your time parameters
        • Booking an On-Request ride

    • Have your fare ready before you board
    • Have your photo ID ready if you’re a reduced-fare rider
    • If you’re paying with cash:
      • Pay the exact fare in coins only – our operators do not carry change
    • If you need a transfer:
      • Ask for it when you get on the bus
    • If you are paying with a peggo card:
      • Hold it against the fare reader until it beeps to ensure the card has been read
    • If you are boarding using a paper transfer:
      • Hold it over the QR code reader on the fare box until it beeps

    • Always use caution when entering and leaving the bus
    • After boarding, step to the back of the bus to let other passengers enter and exit
    • Pull the yellow cord to request a stop
    • Exit by the rear doors whenever possible using the methods of operation described below.

    • Exit by the rear doors whenever possible
    • Wait for the green light above the rear doors to turn on before trying to open the doors
    • The rear doors are opened by one of three methods, depending on the bus model:
      • Touch strip (narrow, raised yellow strip): Press and hold the touch strip until the door opens
      • Sensor (wide, flat yellow strip): Touch the strip, which activates a motion sensor above the door
      • Push-bar: Grip and hold the bar until the door opens
    • The doors will remain open for approximately 3-4 seconds
    • As a courtesy to following passengers, please keep your hand on the touch strip or the push-bar to have the doors remain open for them

We have designated priority and courtesy seating areas to help ensure people with disabilities and additional travel needs can ride safely.
