Kildonan Park Golf Course 100th Anniversary

Established in 1921, Kildonan Park is Winnipeg's oldest municipal golf course. Situated on the banks of the Red River, it features fairways and greens in superb condition, with lush vegetation that only time can bestow on a golf course. Players find this medium-length course quite challenging, with four of five par-3s playing over 200 yards. The other par-3 is a distinctive and memorable train bridge hole. Golfers have to decide to hit over or under the bridge to hit the green.

18 hole breakdown

Hole 1

Par 4, 302 yards

Image
Straight away par 4 with a wide fairway to begin your round. Keep your approach shot below the hole on this green that slopes from back to front.

Hole 2

Par 4, 279 yards

Image
Be aware of the OB running along Main Street down the left side of this hole. With a straight tee shot, longer hitters can reach this short par 4.

Hole 3

Par 3, 223 yards

Image
Par is a great score on this long tough par 3.

Hole 4

Par 3, 200 yards

Image
This picturesque par 3 requires an accurate shot from an elevated tee box to a well-guarded green with bunkers on both the left and the right.

Hole 5

Par 4, 390 yards

Image
Longer hitters can fly the tree in the center of the fairway, shorter to mid length hitters will want to aim slightly right of the towering tree in order to hit the fairway. Pay attention to this smaller green on your approach shot with a bunker situated behind the green.

Hole 6

Par 4, 286 yards

Image
Beware of the OB running along the left side of this short par 4. Longer hitters may attempt to drive the green, however the front of the green is well guarded by two massive bunkers.

Hole 7

Par 4, 293 yards

Image
You cannot see the green from the tee on this downhill par 4. A layup from the tee to the top of the hill will leave you a beautiful downhill approach to this large green.

Hole 8

Par 4, 262 yards

Image
This short par 4 is reachable from the tee. Avoid the fairway bunker on the left 49 yards short of the hole. As they say, the long bunker shot is the toughest shot in golf.

Hole 9

Par 4, 312 yards

Image
An accurate tee shot on this downhill par 4 will leave you with a green light opportunity for a birdie to finish your opening 9 holes.

Hole 10

Par 3, 137 yards

Image
One of the most famous and recognizable golf holes in the province. You must decide… OVER or UNDER the train bridge?? Be aware of the greenside bunker at the very back of this green.

Hole 11

Par 4, 276 yards

Image
In recent years, two fairway bunkers have been added on the right side of this short uphill par 4.

Hole 12

Par 4, 417 yards

Image
Perhaps the most challenging par 4 on the golf course, this long par 4 requires a tee shot that hugs the left side of the fairway. The approach to the green will test a mid to long iron shot that will need to carry a swale guarding the front of this green. Par is a very good score.

Hole 13

Par 4, 411 yards

Image
A second consecutive challenging par 4 will have golfers scrambling to make a par. Two fairway bunkers guard both sides of the fairway on this uphill tee shot.

Hole 14

Par 5, 487 yards

Image
With a tee shot placed in the fairway, this par 5 is reachable in two for mid to longer hitters. Be sure to avoid two greenside bunkers on the left side of this large green.

Hole 15

Par 4, 320 yards

Image
A birdie opportunity awaits on this shorter length par 4. A wide forgiving fairway to a large flat green gives golfers a great chance to lower their score heading into the final three holes.

Hole 16

Par 3, 213 yards

Image
Another long challenging par 3 that will test your ability to make par. Avoid the right side of this hole which is heavily treed and will make any stray shots tough to find.

Hole 17

Par 5, 486 yards

Image
This challenging uphill par 5 requires a left to right tee shot which will position you well in the fairway. Be cautious as you approach the green which slopes heavily from right to left.

Hole 18

Par 3, 201 yards

Image
The finishing hole demands a well struck long iron or fairway wood to a large green. Par is a good score and a great way to finish your round.
