Established in 1921, Kildonan Park is Winnipeg's oldest municipal golf course. Situated on the banks of the Red River, it features fairways and greens in superb condition, with lush vegetation that only time can bestow on a golf course. Players find this medium-length course quite challenging, with four of five par-3s playing over 200 yards. The other par-3 is a distinctive and memorable train bridge hole. Golfers have to decide to hit over or under the bridge to hit the green.
Coyotes are well adapted to living in cities. They are naturally wary, but if they become too comfortable with people they may act aggressively.
Safety tips while on the golf course*
- Never feed coyotes
- Feeding encourages them to approach people. This would put you at risk.
- Secure any garbage or food while on the golf course. Accessible food or trash may attract coyotes.
- Be aware of your surroundings
- Coyote sightings are more frequent near dusk or dawn.
- Avoid wearing headphones or ear-buds.
- If you encounter a coyote
- Stop, remain calm and assess your situation.
- Pick up small children and pets.
- Do not run – you may cause a chase.
- Slowly back away, but do not turn your back on a coyote.
- If a coyote approaches you: act big, make loud noises, use deterrents, be aggressive, fight back.
- Report any incident where a coyote approaches a person; call the Province of Manitoba at 204-945-5221 or the 24-hour tip line at 1-800-782-0076.
