Services for multi-unit properties

Properties with eight or more dwelling units may sign up for our multi-unit collection service. If you are building a new multi-unit property, please refer to our requirements for commercial, industrial, multi-unit residential developments and parking lots (opens in a new tab).

Recycling and garbage are collected every week, on a set day of the week. Your collection day may shift on weeks with holidays.

Services we offer

Multi-unit properties are eligible for 120 litres of both recycling and garbage collection per unit, per week.

We offer bin service for most multi-unit properties. However, we may provide a mix of carts and bins (for example, a property may have carts for recycling and bins for garbage), depending on:

  • The amount of recycling and garbage your property generates
  • Any physical limitations that prevent collection trucks from accessing bins

Property owners will be charged the Waste Management Fee. Property owners will be charged this fee even if they do not receive our collection service. The only exception is if we find we are unable to collect based on the Solid Waste Bylaw # 30/2025.

If you need service above the base level, we will charge you (note one cubic metre = 3,000 litres):

  • The Collection and Disposal of Solid Waste Fee of $5.80 per cubic metre (for additional garbage collected)
  • The Collection and Disposal of Recyclable Materials Fee of $3.80 per cubic metre (for additional recycling collected)

Other fees may apply if you decide to upgrade your service or require extra services.

Apply, modify, or cancel service

The service you will receive depends on the amount of recycling and garbage you generate. Contact 311 to start the process. We will call you back and help you apply, modify or cancel your collection service.

Property owners are responsible to fix any wear and tear on approaches and private property resulting from collection service vehicles servicing the recycling and garbage bins. This includes:

  • Ruts
  • Cracks
  • Pot holes
  • Asphalt damage
  • Cement damage
  • Gravel damage
  • Grass damage
