Community Row Traffic Calming Project

Community Row south of Rannock Avenue has been identified as a high-priority location for traffic calming measures through our Residential Area Traffic Calming Program.

We're looking for your input on a proposal to add speed humps to reduce high speeds on this street.

Review the materials and take a short online survey by July 15, 2026.

Proposed designs

We are proposing traffic calming measures on Community Row.

  • Speed humps south of Rannock Avenue

The expected cost to install speed humps and signage on this street is $14,000. These improvements will be funded through the Road Safety Improvement Program.

Existing conditions

  • Community Row is a two-lane, undivided, residential local street
  • It is bordered by ditches on either side
  • It has a chip-seal pavement surface
  • There are no sidewalks, so pedestrians must share the road with motor vehicles and bikes
  • There is already traffic calming on this street. There are speed humps between Betsworth Avenue and Rannock Avenue
  • Parking is allowed on the west side of the street
  • The speed limit is 50 km/h
  • The daily traffic volume is 900 vehicles per day, which is on the higher end of the typical range for a local street
  • Most of the homes along the street are single-family houses.
  • The street connects to the Harte Trail south of Ridgewood.

Need for traffic calming

This road is a high-priority location for traffic calming measures.

  • We collected traffic data in October 2024
  • The 85th percentile speed, which is the speed at which 85 percent of motorists travel at or below, is 53 km/h
  • About 100 vehicles travel 55 km/h or faster every day

Next steps

  • We're looking for input from residents to confirm the proposed solution will work for the neighbourhood.
  • What we hear in this survey will help us update the design.
  • In late summer, we will publish the survey results and present the final design.
  • Construction is expected in early fall 2026.
