Ab McDonald Arena is open during facility construction:

Holiday casual ice
Holiday casual ice is now being offered at Ab McDonald Arena from December 27-30. Visit winnipeg.ca/leisureonline to view availability and book.  

    A permit processing fee of $29.75 will apply to each rental permit.

    Seasonal ice rentals (Fall/Winter)

    Seasonal ice rental rates

    • Effective July 1, 2025
    • All rates include applicable taxes

    Youth 

    • $256.04 per hour

    Adult prime time 

    • $358.18 per hour
    • Monday - Friday: 4:30 - 10 p.m.
    • Saturday & Sunday: 7 a.m. - 10 p.m.

    Intake for seasonal ice rental applications and renewals begin each spring.

    Casual ice rentals (Fall/Winter)

    Casual ice rentals are generally available October through March

    • Casual Ice rentals are non-refundable and non-transferable
    • Your rental permit will be emailed to you
    • Bring a copy of your rental permit to the arena
    • No alcohol or chewing tobacco 
    • Arrive no earlier than 30 minutes before your reservation time
    • Leave the change room no later then 30 minutes after your reservation time
    • Dryland training is not permitted at any time
    • Observe the customer code of conduct on the arena’s webpage

    Casual ice rental rates

    Casual ice

    • $192.40 per hour

    Book casual ice:

    1. Visit leisureONLINE to browse for available dates and times for casual ice rentals. Online ice schedules. may not reflect any unanticipated, temporary, closures after 4:30 p.m.
    2. Select the arena you would like to book casual ice at.
    3. Use the "Facility openings calendar" to select an available date and time for your booking.
    4. Complete the remaining booking information and select "Proceed".
    5. Fill out the "Reservation form" including event name and event type. Fees will be displayed once completed.
    6. Select "Add to cart" to proceed to shopping cart.
    7. Review booking information in shopping cart and select "Check out" to make payment.
    8. Complete payment information and select "Pay". You will receive confirmation of your booking.
    9. Print a copy of your emailed rental permit.

    2. Read Rental Terms and Conditions.
    3. Call 311 prepared with payment (credit card number and expiry date).
    4. Print a copy of your emailed rental permit.

    Off-season rentals (non-ice)

    Off-season non-ice arena rentals are available from April through August.  

    • Non-ice arena rental requests are reviewed for approval, and subject to arena availability
    • Depending on the type of requested use, non-ice arena rentals may be subject to:
      • Additional specialized permits
      • Licences
      • Security detail
      • Insurance
      • Damage deposit

    Non-ice/Off season rental rates

    • Effective July 1, 2025
    • All rates include applicable taxes

      Non-profit group

      • $110.04 per hour

      Profit group

      • $148.70 per hour
