Services for small businesses & registered charities

We provide recycling and garbage collection services for:

  • Small businesses
  • Charities registered with the Canadian Revenue Agency that are not categorized or serviced as a multi-unit property
    • The service is free for charities registered with the Canadian Revenue Agency that are not categorized or serviced as a multi-unit property
  • Places of worship

This service is limited to a maximum of 3,000 litres (or 40 standard sized garbage bags) each of recycling and garbage per week. If you generate more than 3,000 litres, you will have to sign up for private recycling and garbage collection.

We will collect your recycling and garbage every week, on a set day of the week. Your collection day may shift on weeks with holidays.

Small commercial businesses can also apply to use the household hazard waste and blue cart recyclables areas at 4R Winnipeg Depots for an annual fee.

Services we offer

We offer cart and bin service. In most cases, the type of service you will receive depends on the amount of recycling and garbage you generate. The fees you pay will depend on the type of service you need.

Other fees may apply if you decide to upgrade your service or require extra services.

Cart service

Cart service is for organizations that generate up to 600 litres (or approximately eight standard size bags of garbage or less) each of garbage or recycling per week. The base collection service includes:

  • One 240-litre garbage cart (holds about three standard-size garbage bags)
  • One 240-litre recycling cart (holds about four standard-size blue boxes)
  • Recycling and garbage collection service once every week of the year, including those weeks with statutory holidays
  • Yard waste collection once every two weeks from Spring through Fall (weather dependent), each year

We will charge you the Waste Management Fee for this service.

You can also upgrade your recycling and/or garbage service for an annual fee. The following service levels are available for both recycling and garbage:

  • Option 1: switch the 240-litre cart for a 360-litre cart
    • Annual upgrade fee for a 360-litre recycling cart: $56.00
    • Annual upgrade fee for a 360-litre garbage cart: $132.00
  • Option 2: keep the original 240-litre cart and get a second cart, 240-litre size
    • Annual upgrade fee for a second 240-litre recycling cart: $64.00
    • Annual upgrade fee for a second 240-litre garbage cart: $143.00
  • Option 3: keep the original 240-litre cart and get a second cart, 360-litre size
    • Annual upgrade fee for a second recycling cart, 360-litre size: $70.00
    • Annual upgrade fee for a second garbage cart, 360-litre size: $152.00

You may select one upgrade option for recycling and one for garbage.

If you wish to return to standard sizes, or transfer your larger carts because you are moving, please contact 311.

Bin service

Bin service is for organizations that generate more than 600 litres (approximately eight standard sized garbage bags) each of recycling and garbage per week, but less than our maximum of 3,000 litres a week (approximately 40 standard garbage bags a week).

If you need bin service, you will have to buy or rent a bin from a private garbage collection company or container manufacturer. We will provide a recycling bin, free of charge.

Bin service fees

If you sign up for bin service you will not be charged the Waste Management Fee, however you will be charged:

  • The Collection and Disposal of Solid Waste of $5.80 for garbage collection
  • The Collection and Disposal of Recyclable Materials fee of $3.80 for recycling collection

Apply, modify, or cancel your service with us

The service you will receive depends on the amount of recycling and garbage you generate. Contact 311 to start the process. We will call you back and help you apply, modify or cancel your collection service.

Property owners are responsible to fix any wear and tear on approaches and private property resulting from collection service vehicles servicing the recycling and garbage bins. This includes:

  • Ruts
  • Cracks
  • Pot holes
  • Asphalt damage
  • Cement damage
  • Gravel damage
  • Grass damage
