Community clean-up garbage fee waiver program

You can apply to have us waive the garbage fees for the waste collected from eligible community cleanup events.

Eligibility for the program

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the program:

For organized events:

  • The cleanup is a community led effort and tied to a specific event
  • Volunteers lead the event
  • There is no fundraising or profits earned from the cleanup

For individuals:

  • You will need to prove that the waste comes from a community and not from household or private source
  • The cleanup must be carried out on a volunteer basis
  • There is no fundraising or profits earned from the cleanup
  • We limit Individual-led events to a cumulative amount of $100 in waived garbage fees per year

Apply for program

Applications need to be submitted at least two weeks before the cleanup event.

We approve applications on a first-come, first served basis, to a maximum of 70 tonnes in a calendar year. No new applications will be approved for the calendar year after we have hit the maximum of 70 tonnes.

We will send you a letter to confirm if your application was approved.
