Sustainable water & waste

Managing water, sewage, waste materials and their infrastructure is a big part of reaching net zero emissions.

The City upgrades, maintains and repairs water, sewer and waste management infrastructure. This allows us to provide the reliable services and reduce the impact on the environment.

Some examples of these projects include:

Our active landfill is one of the highest contributors of greenhouse gases in the city. We are working to reduce these greenhouse gases in two ways:

  • Recycling, diversion, and composting programs
  • Capturing and burning the gases before they escape.

This way we avoid making as much new greenhouse gas and manage the gas we already have.
