AI Chatbot Terms and Conditions

The City of Winnipeg AI Chatbot (the “Chatbot”) is made available to members of the public (“Users”) as a pilot, test project.

Use of the Chatbot is subject to the general City of Winnipeg website terms and conditions, and additional certain terms and conditions, outlined below.

1: PILOT PROJECT

The Chatbot is made available to City of Winnipeg website visitors to use as a pilot project. Accordingly, users must not rely on answers given by the Chatbot. Users should verify any answers received by contacting 311 through telephone, or conducting their own verification by directly reading the City of Winnipeg website or via alternate, appropriate means. This is particularly important with respect to any answers concerning matters of a financial nature such as payment of bills or taxes. The City of Winnipeg makes no representations as to the accuracy of any answer given by the Chatbot, and specifically disclaims all any actual or implied representations or warranties as to the accuracy of such information and any reliance on same, and shall in no way be liable for any damages caused to users of the Chatbot in any way whatsoever, including, without limitation, as a result of reliance on inaccurate AI supplied information.

2: NATURE OF AI

The Chatbot is powered by Google’s Gemini AI. Use of the Chatbot must be in compliance with Google’s terms applicable to same, and by continuing to use the Chatbot, users agree to abide by these terms, and to indemnify the City of Winnipeg for any costs, damages, or penalties the City may suffer, or which may be brought against the City by third parties, as a result of the User’s breach of these terms. Insofar as is applicable, Users agree that the foregoing terms apply, mutatis mutanda, to their relationship with the City of Winnipeg vis a vis the Chatbot. Users specifically acknowledge and agree that the City of Winnipeg has no direct control over the answers that the Chatbot gives; nor does the City have any access to information inputted by Users into the Chatbot. Users must not enter any personal or confidential information into the Chatbot. Communications made through the Chatbot shall in no way be deemed to constitute legal notice to The City of Winnipeg or any of its agencies, offices, employees or representatives with respect to any existing or potential claim or cause of action against The City of Winnipeg or any of its agencies, officers, servants, agents, employees, or representatives, where notice to The City of Winnipeg is required by Provincial, Federal or local laws, rules or regulations. Please ensure that for any correspondence with the City that you do not use the Chatbot.
