Road safety projects

The Winnipeg Road Safety Strategic Action Plan identified 14 priority actions to improve safety for pedestrians. 

This page will list current and completed projects. 

 

Current projects

Leading Pedestrian Intervals

LPIs make intersections safer by giving pedestrians a five-second head start to enter the intersection. 

Pedestrian scramble

We are piloting Winnipeg’s first pedestrian scramble at King Street and Bannatyne Avenue. 

Traffic calming curbs

Traffic calming helps slow or reduce traffic through residential areas. 

Road safety lawn signs

Lawn signs help make people more aware of road safety issues and can remind drivers to slow down and stop for pedestrians.
