The following codes are enforced for construction projects in Winnipeg.
Construction codes
The 2020 editions of the national model building, energy, plumbing and fire codes came into force in Manitoba on January 1, 2024. These codes are enforced through the Winnipeg Building By-Law 4555/87 and the Fire Prevention By-Law 35/2017. Manitoba's construction codes have been adopted with Manitoba amendments by provincial regulation.
- Manitoba Building Code Regulation 78/2023
- Outlines the design and construction of new buildings. It also applies to the alteration, change of use, and demolition of existing buildings.

- Manitoba Energy Code for Buildings Regulation 79/2023
- Outlines energy efficiency in the design and construction of new buildings. It also applies to additions to existing buildings.

- Manitoba Plumbing Code Regulation 80/2023
- Outlines the design and installation of new plumbing systems. It also applies to the extension, alteration, renewal, and repair of existing plumbing systems.

- Enforced by the Fire Prevention Branch.

Electrical code
The 2021 edition of the Canadian Electrical Code came into force with Winnipeg amendments on July 1, 2022 through the Winnipeg Electrical By-law 72/2022.
- The electrical code is a safety standard for installing and maintaining electrical equipment. The focus is to prevent fire and shock hazards, and for proper maintenance and operation.
