Residential Mechanical Photo Submission program

The Residential Mechanical Photo Submission (RMPS) program helps licensed electrical contractors by making inspections easier. Contractors can submit photos of their work and required documents to complete inspections. No registration is needed.

Program eligibility

  • Licensed electrical contractors with a Permits Online account
  • Electrical residential (ER) permits only
  • Eligible installations:
    • Air conditioners/heat pumps
    • Gas or electric furnaces
    • Electric hot water tanks

How to use the program:

Not eligible for the program:

  • Installations that need a receptacle for equipment or accessories

Photo requirements

Photos must be date stamped, clear and legible, and include:

  1. Equipment nameplate
  2. Installed overcurrent type & rating
  3. Location of all equipment installed with required clearances (gas relief, etc.)
  4. Panelboard where equipment is connected with panel manufacturer label & circuit directory
  5. Location of the disconnect, if needed

Ensure the pressure relief valve extension and drain pan are visible where required.

After submitting

The City will review documents and photos to determine compliance. A completion notice or defect report email will be sent, if needed. If the documents and photos are not good enough, an on-site inspection may be required.

The City may do random on-site inspections for compliance.

Failure to follow codes, standards, bylaws and obligations of this program will result in being disqualified from the program.
