A tour or class visit is an excellent way to learn about the library and what it offers. Tours are offered at all library branches for: pre-school groups, K-12 classes, childcare centres, post-secondary classes, non-profit organizations, businesses, and community groups (seniors, special needs, EAL/ESL, newcomers).
Request a tour
For library branch tours (excluding Millennium Library), please contact the branch directly. Visit our Locations and hours page for contact information.
For Millennium Library tours or class visits, please compete the online tour request form below. A library staff member will contact you within 3 business days.
Please read the information below before making a tour request.
On-site tour options
We offer two tour options for groups.
Option 1: Introduction to the Library
A general introduction to Winnipeg Public Library with a focus on the specific library branch's collections and services.
If your tour or class visit will be at the Millennium Library (251 Donald Street), you can ask for staff to focus on one of these subjects:
- Accessibility services: Resources and services for library customers with mobility issues, print disabilities, or other access needs.
- EAL/ESL resources: Resources and services for adults who are learning English.
- Indigenous collections and spaces: Learn about Ah kha koo gheesh, Wii ghoss and the Indigenous collections.
- Library technology: Find out about the technology you can use at the library (computers, wi-fi, printers, self check-out stations, and the catalogue).
- Local History: Visit the Local History room, a reference-only collection focused on Manitoba's history.
- ideaMILL (Makerspace): Learn about the ideaMILL, where you can bring your creative ideas to life.
- Research: Find out about the resources and services available to help you with your research. Let us know if you are researching a specific topic.
Option 2: Class visits for pre-school groups, K-12 classes, childcare providers, and homeschooling families
Help kids and teens learn about their local library space and what it offers. Younger audiences can participate in a short story time program. For students, library staff can connect them with library resources about topics they are focusing on at school.
Off-site options
If your group cannot visit the library, library staff can present to your group in-person or online. Learn about our collections, services, digital library, and more.
