Items for loan include Adult and Children's fiction and non-fiction, graphic novels, magazines, music, audiobooks, video games (Xbox, PS4, Nintendo Wii & Switch) and movies (DVDs and Blu-ray). As a branch of Winnipeg Public Library, members can also access an extensive eLibrary for downloadable eBooks, eMagazines, information resources and online journals, and streaming movies and music.
Cornish Library hosts a Seed Library where seeds can be deposited in the fall and selected in the spring. Check with the branch for dates. Learn more about Seed Libraries.

Cornish Library is located in Armstrong Point, across from the Misericordia Health Centre. The renovated, fully accessible library has two levels with the main floor housing the collections and information/checkout. The lower level has new program and meeting rooms which are available for rent. More information about meeting rooms for rent. An extension to the south of the building includes a bright and open reading area that overlooks the river.
The Library has bookable computers with MS Office and Internet access, and free WiFi. There are tables for studying. Photocopying and printing is available for a fee. Scanning to email is free.

Cornish Library is one of two branches built with grants from the Carnegie Foundation - the other being the St. John's Library. The architect of Cornish Library was S. Frank Peters, with a layout similar to other Carnegie funded libraries with a red brick exterior, detailed entrance with stone columns, and ornamental details. The 8,776 sq. ft. Library opened June 15, 1915, and boasts oak and walnut woodwork, fireplaces and a decorative mezzanine. Prominent users of the library include Nellie McClung who conducted lectures from the basement meeting room. The Library has been designated a Grade II heritage building.
The library closed May 12, 2018 and underwent significant renovations to both the upper and lower levels. In order to keep the original character of the library, existing woodwork throughout the library was kept and refreshed. The renovated library reopened May 11, 2021.
