Cities across Canada are facing significant challenges related to housing affordability and availability. Population growth has led to a rising demand for housing that the current rate of housing construction cannot meet.
Winnipeg is no different. Our city needs more housing to ensure that the diversity of our residents have a home. We are planning for the immediate future by:
- paving the way for new housing to meet the diverse needs of residents
- revitalizing existing neighbourhoods and Housing Improvement Zones (PDF, 6.7MB)
- encouraging community housing plans & initiatives
- building, leveraging & establishing partnerships
When we work together to develop a housing vision, it is easier for people to access jobs, housing, and amenities.
