Become a Board Member

The Board of Revision recruits new members  as part of the annual selection process for citizen members interested in serving on City of Winnipeg boards.  Each year Council appoints a board consisting of no less than 3 members for one year terms. 

Board members are required to attend Board and panel meetings, which are scheduled on various mornings, afternoons and evenings. Persons interested in applying should be available during business hours to attend scheduled hearings.

Who can be a Board Member

Canadian citizens and permanent residents who reside in Winnipeg and are 18 years of age or older on the date of their application are eligible to serve on the board.

Persons with experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • Property or business assessment
  • Property appraisal
  • Property management
  • Real estate
  • Law

In addition, interested applicants should have strong analytical skills, the ability to be fair and open-minded, and the capacity to work cohesively with members of the Board.

Board Member Remuneration

Board members are eligible for payment for their service under the Board of Revision Compensation By-law No. 95/2022. Remuneration includes:

  • A Panel Chair shall be paid compensation of $61.80 for each hour, or portion thereof, spent chairing a hearing or a meeting of the hearing panel, including deliberations of the panel.
  • A Panel Member who is not the Panel Chair shall be paid compensation of $41.20 for each hour, or portion thereof, spent in a hearing or a meeting of the hearing panel, including deliberations of the panel.
