Mayor Scott Gillingham gladly provides greetings for Winnipeg residents celebrating birthdays of 75 years and up in five-year increments (e.g. 75, 80, 85) and anniversaries starting at 50 years and up in five-year increments (e.g. 55, 60, 65).
To ensure successful delivery, the Mayor’s Office requires any greeting request at least 30 days in advance.
Please include the following information in all greeting requests:
- name of celebrant(s), including title (Mr., Mrs., Ms., Dr. etc.)
- address of celebrant(s)
- name and address of who and where to send greetings (if different from above)
- actual date of birthday/anniversary
- celebration date (if different from above)
- name and phone number or email address of person requesting greetings
This information can be provided by mail, fax, or email.
Mayor Scott Gillingham receives numerous invitations to various events that take place in and around the City of Winnipeg. The Mayor's Office requires written notice at least two months in advance to consider any request.
All invitations to the Mayor are required in writing and can be sent by mail, fax, or email. Please include date, time, location, and name of the contact person with a return address and telephone number. Also include details regarding the specific role for the Mayor, for example, if you would like him to speak at your event, take part in a ceremony, etc.
Once your invitation has been viewed by the Mayor, expect a response indicating if he is able to attend. If possible, a member of city council may attend your event on the Mayor's behalf if requested in the original letter of invitation.
We are pleased to fly national flags at City Hall to commemorate a country's historic day. Some promotional flags may also be flown at Portage and Main.
All requests are required in writing and sent to the Mayor's Office by mail, fax, or email.
Once approved, organizations are asked to drop their flag off at the Mayor's Office two days prior to the flying of the flag.

The Mayor's Office does not have a budget for advertising, however, we are pleased to provide greetings free of charge with the Mayor's best wishes.
The Mayor's Office receives many diverse and wide-ranging requests for meetings with Mayor Scott Gillingham. As the Mayor's schedule is booked well in advance, meetings on his calendar can take up to two months to schedule.
