On October 28, at approximately 6:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a sedan and a taxicab at the intersection of Aberdeen Avenue and Salter Street.

The Traffic Division assumed responsibility for the investigation and determined that the sedan was travelling westbound on Aberdeen Avenue when it collided with the southbound taxicab. The collision caused extensive damage to both vehicles, rendering them inoperable.

The driver of the taxicab, a man in his forties, and his passenger, a man in his fifties, were transported to hospital in critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, both later succumbed to their injuries.

The driver of the sedan, a woman in her late teens, and an adult passenger sustained minor injuries.

Investigators believe speed and manner of driving were contributing factors in the collision.

All involved parties have been identified, and the Traffic Division continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Anyone with information, video surveillance, or dashcam video is asked to contact the Traffic Unit at 204-986-7085.
