On October 18, 2026, at approximately 2:25 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service were confronted by an aggressive male while attending a residence in the 100 block of Furby Street.

Central District General Patrol officers attended the residence and were met at the door by a hostile male who was not involved in the original complaint. Officers were eventually granted access to the residence; however, the male continued to act in a verbally aggressive manner throughout the interaction.  After he was directed to leave the residence, he threatened to slash the tires of the officer’s police cruiser.

Upon returning to their vehicle, officers discovered that one of the cruiser’s tires had been slashed multiple times and flattened. A concerned citizen who witnessed the incident provided officers with a description of the suspect and advised that he remained in the area and was still in possession of a knife.

Officers located the suspect walking on Furby Street. The male refused to comply and instead advanced towards officers. Conducted energy weapons were deployed, and despite actively resisting arrest, the male was safely taken into custody. A knife was recovered and seized as evidence.

While in custody, the male remained belligerent and continued to threaten officers.

Cayden James McLEOD-PETIT (18), is charged with the following offences:

  • Assault a Peace Officer x 2
  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm x 2
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Mischief Under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment

He was detained in police custody and later released on a Release Order.
