Taxi driver assaulted – Public Assistance : C26-250305

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit is investigating a serious assault on a taxi driver who was found unconscious by a passerby at Nairn Avenue and Watt Street.

On October 3, 2026, at 2:20 a.m., police responded and located the driver, with injuries to his upper body. Officers provided emergency medical care and he was transported to hospital by ambulance in unstable condition.

The investigation is continuing by the Major Crimes Unit. The driver is believed to have been in the area of Sutherland Avenue/Higgins Avenue when he may have been flagged down and assaulted. He continued to drive north on Higgins until he parked and activated his emergency light system to signal for help. A concerned passerby contacted 911.
