Homicide Investigation – Woman in custody: C26-206082

On August 18, 2026, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Central District General Patrol officers attended a residence in the 100 block of Young Street for a 57-year-old woman who had been assaulted.

Attending officers located the victim on scene suffering from injuries sustained during an assault at the residence. She was transported to hospital where she was stabilized; however, her condition deteriorated over time. The suspect fled before police arrived.

On September 20, 2026, Brenda Kate CROMARTY (57), succumbed to her injuries in hospital. Brenda, a member of St. Theresa Point First Nation had been residing in Winnipeg.

The Homicide Unit continued to investigate this incident and identified the suspect as
48-year-old Michelle Margaret Jane ROBINSON. Manitoba Justice was consulted and a charge of Manslaughter was authorized.

On September 25, 2026, ROBINSON was arrested by members of the Manitoba Integrated Violent Offenders Apprehension Unit in Northern Manitoba.

ROBINSON has been charged with Manslaughter and detained in custody.
