On August 27, 2026, just before 10:30 p.m., North District General Patrol officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of St. Johns Avenue for the report of a fire.
Upon arrival, officers located a 35-year-old male, a 53-year-old male and 31-year-old female victims suffering from life-altering burns.
All three victims were transported to hospital; one critical, and two in unstable condition. The 31-year-old female was treated and released, while the 53-year-old male remains in hospital.
The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation.
A 22-year-old male suspect was arrested at the scene and charged with the following:
- Aggravated Assault x 3
- Arson Cause Bodily Harm x 3
- Arson Causing Damage to Property
- Possession of Incendiary Material
- Break Enter and Commit Arson – Dwelling House
He was detained in custody.
On August 29, 2026, the 35-year-old male succumbed to his injuries. The deceased victim has been identified as 35-year-old Mark Bosadas MARMETO.
Manitoba Justice was consulted and charges of First Degree Murder and Attempt to Commit Murder x 2 were authorized.
Ismail Abdihakim ALI, (22), has been charged with First Degree Murder and Attempt to Commit Murder x 2. He remains in custody.
