Just before midnight (July 5, 2025), the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a gun call at the Curtis Gordon Hotel in the 1000 block of Henderson Highway.
Multiple units including East District General Patrol, the Tactical Support Team (TST), K9 and the Drone Unit attended and learned that a male suspect had randomly sprayed bear spray inside the establishment affecting several people. Witnesses reported seeing him carrying a firearm.
Video was obtained showing the male suspect walking across the parking lot while armed with firearm.
Officers flooded the area in search of the suspect but he was not located. During the search, police recovered a CO2-powered gun that matched the appearance of the weapon seen in the video. However, investigators cannot confirm at this time whether the recovered gun is the same weapon shown in the footage. Until proven otherwise, police are treating the incident as involving a real firearm.
The suspect is described as:
- A tall man with a thin build and a lighter complexion.
- He was wearing a grey sweater, beige pants and wearing a black baseball cap with white lettering.
- He was carrying a black backpack.
- The gun was described as a small rifle/submachine gun style.
