On July 3, 2026, just after 8:00 a.m., officers from North District were patrolling in a marked cruiser car, when they observed a man riding an electric bicycle along the sidewalk of McGregor Street. Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act, police attempted a traffic stop as he rode northbound McGregor. He failed to stop and continued riding, turning east on Manitoba Avenue. He eventually stopped in the 500 block of Manitoba Avenue.

Police identified the man, and determined he was breaching conditions of the electronic monitoring program (ankle monitor). While taking him into custody, police felt an unidentified object concealed on his body. The man resisted, wiggling out of his sweater and ran from police.

As officers ran after him, the accused pointed an object at police, (later confirmed to be a loaded firearm).

He was tackled to the ground and the firearm slid across the street. The accused was telling people in the area to retrieve it.

He was secured in handcuffs and police seized the weapon – a sawed-off .22 calibre improvised gun with a live round.

Glen Edward LUSSIER (35), was charged with 22 offences, including:

  • Assault Peace Officer with Weapon x 2
  • 15 Firearms-related offences
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 5

He was detained in custody.
