Downtown shooting results in two arrests: C26-54407

Winnipeg police have laid charges against two men following a downtown shooting that occurred in March 2026, where multiple shots were fired into a vehicle occupied by three individuals.

On March 8, 2026, at approximately 3:45 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a licensed premise in the 200 block of Portage Avenue following reports of gunshots. Officers located several 9mm shell casings and evidence of gunfire.

Officers later determined that two adult women and one adult male were parked in a vehicle near the location when two men approached. Without warning, multiple shots were fired into the vehicle. One victim sustained minor injuries from shattered glass. No one was directly struck by gunfire.

The Major Crimes Unit (MCU) assumed responsibility for the investigation and, following a lengthy investigation, identified two suspects.

On June 23, 2026, at approximately 6:27 p.m., Major Crimes Unit (MCU) investigators, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team (TST), executed a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of Johnson Avenue. One suspect was taken into custody during the search. The second suspect was arrested a short time later in the 1600 block of Regent Avenue West.

Jordan James WALTON (32) has been charged with:

  • Discharge a Restricted Firearm or a Prohibited Firearm with Intent
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x2
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Assault with a Weapon x3
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

WALTON was detained in custody.

Marvin Flores SANCHEZ (36) has been charged with:

  • Discharge a Restricted Firearm or a Prohibited Firearm with Intent
  • Assault with a Weapon x3
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x2
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

SANCHEZ was detained in custody.
