On June 13, 2026, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Child Abuse Unit initiated an investigation after receiving a report that a pre-teen girl had been sexually assaulted in the vicinity of Manitoba Avenue and Salter Street.
Through their investigation, it was learned that the girl was walking in the 400 block of Manitoba Avenue at approximately 3:00 a.m. when she was approached by a vehicle driven by a lone male suspect. The suspect coaxed the girl into the vehicle with the promise of drugs and alcohol. Once inside the vehicle, the suspect drove her to a nearby alley where he threatened her at knifepoint, and a serious sexual assault occurred. Following the assault, the girl fled to a nearby family member’s residence where police where contacted.
Attending North District General Patrol officers advised the Child Abuse Unit who assumed the investigation. Investigators are seeking public assistance for any information that may help identify the suspect.
Suspect Description:
- South Asian in appearance
- Between 30-40 years of age
- Short dark hair
- Moustache
The vehicle the suspect was driving at the time of the incident is described as a four-door brown coloured sedan.
