Joint police investigation leads to seizure of drugs and firearms. Two men arrested: C26-108926/R26-23946

In April 2026, the Central Community Support Unit (CSU), with the assistance of the Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit (MIVOAU), began an investigation to locate 38-year-old Stephen Wilfred Jade WOOD, who was unlawfully at large for violating his parole.

CSU officers located and arrested WOOD and a second man at a commercial business in the 1000 block of Main Street without incident.

Upon searching WOOD, officers seized the following property:

  • A loaded 9mm handgun with magazine
  • A magazine with ammunition
  • A .40 calibre rifle with foldable stock (reported stolen)
  • Approximatel $20,000 in Canadian currency
  • 1.13 Kg of fentanyl (estimated street value = $60,000)
  • 10.1 ounces of methamphetamine (estimated street value = $3,500)
  • 5.5 ounces of cocaine (estimated street value = $11,000)
  • 8 grams of crack cocaine (estimated street value = $640)
  • 25 grams of MDMA (estimated street value = $1,000)
  • Canister of bear mace

The following property was seized from the second male:

  • Loaded 9mm handgun with magazine (obliterated serial number)
  • 1 ounce of fentanyl (estimated street value = $1,000)
  • Two cell phones

Stephen Wilfred Jade WOOD, (38), has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized x 2
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 3
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

WOOD was also arrested on the strength of a Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large for violation of his parole.

The second man, 50-year-old Rommel Celfo JIMENEZ, has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 6
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking

Both men were detained in custody.

MIVOAU is a joint task force comprised of the Winnipeg Police Service and Manitoba RCMP. This unit aims to identify, locate and apprehend violent offenders with outstanding warrants throughout the province of Manitoba.
