Apartment shots call leads to firearms and drugs seizure. Two men in custody: C26-108891

On May 10, 2026, just before 12:30 p.m., West District General Patrol officers responded to an apartment complex in the 1-99 block of Barnes Street for the report of a gunshot that had been fired through an apartment suite wall.

Upon arrival, officers determined through investigation that the gunshot originated from the neighbouring suite and attended to check the wellbeing of the occupants. Upon entering, multiple rounds of ammunition and cocaine were observed in plain sight. Two men within the suite were arrested.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation.

A search warrant was executed, and the following items were seized from within the apartment:

  • Two handguns with magazine, one of which was loaded
  • Four rounds of 9mm ammunition
  • 5.5 grams of cocaine (estimated street value = $440)
  • Approximately $16,000 in Canadian currency
  • Scale
  • Gang paraphernalia

Devaughn William Francis LAVALLEE, (37), has been charged with the following:

  • Careless Storage of Firearm, Ammunition, Prohibited Weapon or Device x 3
  • Discharge a Firearm Into or At a Place in a Reckless Manner
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

Harvey James COOK, (37), has been charged with the following:

  • Careless Storage of Firearm, Ammunition, Prohibited Weapon or Device x 3
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized x 2
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Obstruct Peace Officer

Both were detained in custody.
