A 40-year-old man was arrested following an incident involving animal cruelty and an assault with a weapon against a 43-year-old woman at an apartment complex in the 400 block of William Avenue.

On May 2, 2026, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the victim entered the common hallway of her apartment building to investigate the sound of a cat in distress. She located a deceased kitten in the hallway and confronted a 40-year-old male resident she believed was responsible for the animal’s death.

The suspect responded by throwing a kitchen knife at the victim. The knife did not strike her, and no injuries were reported.

Central District General Patrol officers attended and took the suspect into custody, seizing a knife during the arrest.

The man is facing charges of Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon, and Killing or Injuring Animals. He was released on an Undertaking.
