Major Crimes Unit investigation leads to arrest of prolific B & E suspect: C26-25027

In February of 2026, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit began an investigation regarding a string of thefts to a number of government and commercial businesses within Winnipeg. Investigators determined that a man was linked to the string of thefts which included the following:

  • Between January 12, 2026, and February 8, 2026: A man entered a community centre in the 100 block of Young Street twice and stole items valued at $600.

  • Between January 19, 2026, and January 20, 2026: A man entered a commercial business in the 300 block of Colony Street and stole items valued at $14,900.

  • Between January 23, 2026, and February 16, 2026: A man entered a government building in the 400 block of Hargrave Street and stole items valued at $12,100 and $680 in Canadian currency.

  • On January 25, 2026: A man entered a commercial business in the 100 block of Donald Street and stole an item of an undetermined value.

  • Between February 1, 2026, and February 14, 2026: A man entered a commercial business in the 200 block of Princess Street twice and items worth $75 and $50 in Canadian currency.

  • On February 2, 2026: A man entered a commercial business in the 400 block of Portage Avenue and stole items valued at $1,300.

  • On February 5, 2026: A man entered a commercial business in the 200 block of Colony Street and stole items valued at $2,000.

  • On February 5, 2026: A man attended a commercial business in the 200 block of Portage Avenue and attempted entry but was unsuccessful.

  • On February 6, 2026: A man attended to a commercial business in the 1-99 block of Granite Way and attempted entry but was unsuccessful.

  • On February 9, 2026: A man entered a commercial business in the 100 block of Sherbrook Street and caused $5,00 worth of damage.

All incidents were captured on security cameras and reported to police.

On April 9, 2026, the Major Crimes Unit attended to Milner Ridge Correctional Centre in Beausejour, Manitoba and arrested a man.

Jeffrey Joel GOULDHAWKE, (38), has been charged with the following:

  • Break Enter and Theft – Place x 5
  • Break and Enter with Intent – Place
  • Warrant – Break Enter and Theft – Place x 3, Break and Enter with Intent – Place x 3, Possession of Break In Instrument(s), Mischief Under $5,000

He remains in custody.
