Traffic stop leads to arrest of impaired driver and seizure of over $24,000 worth of drugs: C26-70177

On March 27, 2026, Central District General Patrol officers stopped a vehicle in the downtown area and located more than $24,000 worth of street drugs in the vehicle. The driver was found to be impaired and was also wanted on outstanding warrants.

At 12:37 a.m., officers observed a 2013 GMC Terrain travelling the wrong direction in the 400 block of Sherbrook Street. Officers stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as 35-year-old Dustin Ryan CHATKANA and learned he had warrants for suspension of parole/statutory release and being unlawfully at large. Officers also determined he was impaired by drug or alcohol.

During the arrest, officers located the following:

  • 99.6 grams of Crack Cocaine (Estimated Street Value: $8,000)
  • 196 grams of Powder Cocaine (Estimated Street Value: $16,000)
  • 11 grams of Methamphetamines (Estimated Street Value: $500)
  • 11 Xanax pills (Estimated Street Value: $60)
  • $3,382 CAD Currency

CHATKANA has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Operation of a Conveyance While Impaired to Any Degree by BAC or Drug or a Combination of Both
  • Fail or Refuse to Comply with Demand
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • (Warrant) Apprehension and Suspension of Parole/Statutory Release
  • (Warrant) Unlawfully at Large

CHATKANA was detained in custody.
