On March 27, 2026, Central District General Patrol officers stopped a vehicle in the downtown area and located more than $24,000 worth of street drugs in the vehicle. The driver was found to be impaired and was also wanted on outstanding warrants.
At 12:37 a.m., officers observed a 2013 GMC Terrain travelling the wrong direction in the 400 block of Sherbrook Street. Officers stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as 35-year-old Dustin Ryan CHATKANA and learned he had warrants for suspension of parole/statutory release and being unlawfully at large. Officers also determined he was impaired by drug or alcohol.
During the arrest, officers located the following:
- 99.6 grams of Crack Cocaine (Estimated Street Value: $8,000)
- 196 grams of Powder Cocaine (Estimated Street Value: $16,000)
- 11 grams of Methamphetamines (Estimated Street Value: $500)
- 11 Xanax pills (Estimated Street Value: $60)
- $3,382 CAD Currency
CHATKANA has been charged with the following:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Operation of a Conveyance While Impaired to Any Degree by BAC or Drug or a Combination of Both
- Fail or Refuse to Comply with Demand
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- (Warrant) Apprehension and Suspension of Parole/Statutory Release
- (Warrant) Unlawfully at Large
CHATKANA was detained in custody.
