On March 26, 2026, members of the Winnipeg Police Service’s Sex Crimes Unit arrested a 53-year-old man in relation to a sexual assault which occurred at a hotel in the 300 block of St. Mary Avenue in early March 2024.

Through the investigation, it was learned that the man and a 34-year-old female survivor, were employed at the same firm at the time of the assault and had attended a work conference.

During one evening of the conference, the man and the survivor attended different establishments in a social setting, along with other co-workers. At the end of the evening, the man escorted the woman back to her hotel room where a sexual assault occurred.

In January 2025, the victim reported the incident to a law enforcement agency in another jurisdiction who in turn, informed the Winnipeg Police Service’s Sex Crimes Unit. Investigators consulted with the Prosecution Service of Manitoba Justice who authorized the charge of Sexual Assault.

On March 26, Scott FIELDING was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault.

FIELDING was released on an Undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
