Male in 30s charged for online luring and sexual assault: R26-13881

A male has been charged with offences related to luring and sexual assault of a minor following an investigating by the Counter Exploitation Unit (CEU).

In March of 2026, CEU initiated an investigation after a report was received indicating that a 14-year-old female youth had been sexually assaulted by a suspect male that she met over social media in February 2026.

During February 2026, the suspect made arrangements online to meet in person with the victim, where she was supplied with illicit drugs, and sexually assaulted.

On March 22, 2026, just after 6:00 p.m., investigators attended to an apartment complex in the 500 block of Leila Avenue and arrested a male.

John Dustin Verde BRIES, (31), has been charged with the following:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Sexual Interference
  • Luring a Person Under 16 years of age by Means of Telecommunication
  • Obtaining Sexual Services from a Person Under 18 years of age

He was detained in custody.
