In the early hours of March 21, 2026, Central District General Patrol officers arrested 28-year-old Rudy Wayne ELLIOTT regarding a random assault investigation involving a pedestrian on Sherbrook Street.

On March 19, shortly before 7:45 a.m., the 40-year-old female victim was crossing Ross Avenue on Sherbrook Street when she crossed paths with the male suspect. Unprovoked and without warning, the suspect punched the victim causing her to stumble. The suspect immediately fled northbound towards Logan Avenue before police arrived. The victim attended the hospital, where she received medical attention for a small laceration and police were contacted.

The victim and the suspect were previously unknown to one another and the assault is believed to be completely random in nature.

Through their investigation, officers identified ELLIOTT and linked him to the assault. ELLIOTT could not be located at the time of the incident and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On March 21, at 3:15 a.m., officers recognized ELLIOTT walking in the area of Stanley Street and Logan Avenue. He attempted to flee from officers, but was apprehended following a short foot pursuit.

ELLIOTT was also arrested on the strength of two additional warrants for Assault and Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order.

ELLIOTT has been charged with Assault and was detained in custody.
