Final suspect in custody regarding March 3rd Selkirk Avenue homicide: C26-49941

Update:

The Homicide Unit has made a third and final arrest in connection to the March 3rd homicide of 40-year-old Kingsley Murray BRUCE.

On March 17, investigators arrested 25-year-old Sebastian ATKINSON in Winnipeg. He was charged with Second Degree Murder and detained in custody.

Emmanuel Max SPENCE (25), and Thomas Jeremy (TJ) SPENCE (39) had previously been arrested by investigators on March 9 and March 11 respectively.  

Investigators have determined the three accused, and the victim were known to each other at the time of shooting.

As previously released:

On March 3, 2026, just after 3:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a gun call at an apartment block in the 600 block of Selkirk Avenue.

North District General Patrol officers, along with members of the Tactical Support Team (TST), and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems Unit (RPAS), attended and located an injured 40-year-old man. He was transported to hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.

The Homicide Unit assumed the investigation.

The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Kingsley Murray BRUCE, a member of Poplar River First Nation who had been residing in Winnipeg.

On March 9, 2026, 25-year-old Emmanuel Max SPENCE was located in the 300 block of Selkirk Avenue. He was charged with Manslaughter and was detained in custody.

On March 11, 2026, 39-year-old Thomas Jeremy (TJ) SPENCE was located in the area of Bannerman Avenue and McKenzie Street. He was charged with Manslaughter and was detained in custody.
