Attempted carjacking in grocery store parking lot leads to arrest of 43-year-old man: C26-63437

On March 18, 2026, at 9:30 p.m., Winnipeg Police Service officers arrested a 43-year-old man regarding an attempted carjacking which had just occurred in the parking lot of a grocery store in the 2100 block of McPhillips Street.

At 9:30 p.m., the man approached the parked vehicle of a 44-year-old victim, while armed with a knife. He attempted to enter the vehicle from the passenger side before the quick-thinking victim drove away from the man to a different location of the lot. She entered the grocery store and informed special duty police officers of the incident. She was uninjured during the incident.

Assisting members of Air1 tracked the man and guided a K9 unit to the 2200 block of McPhillips Street where he was arrested without incident.

Roger Joseph DELAURIERS (43), is charged with Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon.

He was detained in police custody awaiting further disposition.
