Between February 17 and March 1, 2026, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to three armed robberies involving taxi drivers in the downtown area.
- On February 17, 2026, a taxi driver was robbed by a male suspect armed with a firearm near the intersection of Agnes Street and Sargent Avenue (no injuries reported)
- On February 21, 2026, a taxi driver was robbed of personal property and their taxi cab stolen by a male suspect armed with a firearm near the intersection of Agnes Street and Sargent Avenue (no injuries reported)
- On March 1, 2026, a taxi driver was robbed by a male suspect armed with a firearm in the 500 block of Sargent Avenue (no injuries reported)
The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigations and identified a suspect believed to be involved in all three robberies.
Michael Darren HARRIS (37) has been charged with Robbery x 3, Possession of a Weapon x 3, and Use of Imitation Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence x 3. He was detained in custody.
