Man in custody following attempted murder in Meadowood area: C26-47202

On February 28, 2026, The Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of a Domestic call for service in the 300 block of Meadowood Drive where one woman was stabbed and another threatened. The suspect was arrested at the scene.

At approximately 4:45 a.m., a 21-year-old man armed himself with a knife and began to stab and assault his 21-year-old girlfriend without provocation. An 83-year-old woman attempted to intervene and was threatened and physically assaulted by the man. The elderly woman was able to contact police.

At 5:02 a.m., East District General Patrol officers arrived and provided lifesaving first aid to the victim, including applying chest seals and tourniquets. She was transported to hospital in critical condition where she remains.

Officers located the suspect in the residence where he was placed under arrest. He was later turned over to the Major Crimes Unit to conduct the investigation.

The 21-year-old man has been charged with:

  • Attempt to Commit Murder
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm x 2
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Assault

He was detained in custody. His name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victims.
