On February 25, 2026, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of a fight involving approximately 15 individuals at a licensed establishment in the 1100 block of Main Street. Two officers were assaulted while effecting a lawful arrest, resulting in two persons charged for assault, resisting arrest, and obstructing police.

At 10:55 p.m., North District General Patrol officers attended and found two men still actively fighting. One of the men was detained under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act, and the other released without charges.

A 27-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man were arrested for obstructing officers while they attempted to break up the fight. The woman kicked one officer and spat at another, while the man attempted to prevent officers from detaining one of the men involved in the fight.

The 27-year-old woman is facing charges of Assault Peace Officer x 2 and Resist Peace Officer. She was released on an Appearance Notice.

The 25-year-old man is facing a charge of Obstruct Justice. He was released on an Undertaking.

Members of the public are reminded that interfering with police officers during a lawful arrest may result in criminal charges, including obstructing or resisting a peace officer. For everyone’s safety, individuals must not interfere with officers as they carry out their lawful duties.
