On December 19, 2025, following an investigation by the Internet Child Exploitation Unit, a 31-year-old man was arrested in regards to child sexual abuse imagery that had been uploaded to a social media platform.
Between October 4 and February 4, 2025, a series of photographs and videos depicting child sexual abuse and exploitation were uploaded to a social media platform. The National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which gathers information about missing and sexually exploited children, traced the I.P. address to a residence in Winnipeg and provided the information to the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre in Canada (NCECC).
In April of 2025, the Winnipeg Police Service’s ICE Unit assumed the investigation, identified a suspect, and obtained a warrant to search a residence.
On December 19, investigators executed the search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Nassau Street North, where the 31-year-old was arrested without incident. Several digital storage devices, located by the service’s Electronic Storage Device (ESD) dog, were seized and submitted for further analysis.
The 31-year-old is charged with the following offences:
- Makes, Prints, Publishes or Possess for the Purpose of Publication any Child Pornography
- Possession of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material
- Access any Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material
He was released with conditions prohibiting access to the internet and anyone under 18, as directed by the Criminal Code.
The ICE Unit continues to investigate.
