North District Community Support Unit arrests four, seizes grenade: C25-305923

Earlier this month, the North Community Support Unit began a drug trafficking investigation in the North Point Douglas neighbourhood. As a result of this investigation, four firearms were seized along with a large amount of ammunition, a grenade, firearm parts, weapons, over $11,000 worth of illicit drugs and around $12,000 in cash. Four people were arrested, two of whom were charged.

On December 19, 2025, just after 6:30 p.m., the North District Community Support Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, the West District Community Support Unit, and North District General Patrol officers, executed a warrant on a residence in the 200 block of Austin Street North. Three men and one woman were located within the residence and arrested. A search of one of the men revealed a cannister of bear spray, a pick lock screwdriver and approximately $560 in Canadian currency on his person.

Items seized by investigators during the execution of the warrant included the following:

  • Hakim 7.9 mm rifle
  • Mossberg MBP 5.56 mm rifle
  • Cooey Model 60 .22 caliber repeater rifle
  • Loaded double barrel 12-gauge shotgun with its serial number obliterated
  • MK1 grenade
  • Two crossbows (one loaded)
  • Brass knuckles
  • Plastic knuckles with a knife point
  • A number of firearm parts
  • Large amount of different caliber ammunition
  • Approximately 205 grams of Methamphetamine (Estimated Street Value = $10,250)
  • Approximately 7.3 grams of Fentanyl (Estimated Street Value = $1,095)
  • Approximately $12,000 in Canadian currency
  • Scales and drug packaging material

Tests are currently being conducted to determine if the grenade seized by officers is live or inert.

A 54-year-old man is facing the following charges including:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
  • Unlawful Possession of Explosives
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of a Weapon x 2
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking

A 46-year-old woman is facing the following charges including:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
  • Unlawful Possession of Explosives
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of a Weapon

Both were released on two Undertakings.

A 29-year-old and 44-year-old man were released without charge.
