The 2025 Holiday Season Checkstop Program is officially underway and will continue throughout December and into New Year’s Eve.
Impaired driving remains a serious and entirely preventable danger on Manitoba roads. In 2024, approximately 17% of all traffic fatalities in the province involved impaired driving by alcohol, drugs, or both.
This holiday season, Winnipeggers can expect to see an increased police presence as officers work to enforce impaired driving laws and keep the community safe. Every driver stopped during a Checkstop will be required to provide a breath sample using an Approved Screening Device and drug-screening equipment will be used to detect signs of cannabis impairment.
