The Winnipeg Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a female suspect in a foiled commercial robbery.
On November 9, 2025, just after 11:00 a.m., West District officers responded to a retail store located in the 1000 block of Empress Street, for the report of a commercial robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned that a female attended to the store, selected a big screen tv and left without paying.
When approached by a store employee in the parking lot, the suspect threatened them with a large knife. An off-duty officer, who happened to be shopping at the store at the time, intervened and used his shopping cart to create a safe barrier between the suspect, the staff member and other shoppers. The suspect fell to the ground and dropped the tv. She got up and attempted to recover the tv but fled empty handed. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
The Major Crimes Unit has assumed the investigation.
The suspect is described as a woman in her mid-20s, with mid-length black hair, wearing a white jacket and black tights.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 204-986-6219 or anonymously at Crime Stoppers 204-786-TIPS or winnipegcrimestoppers.org
