On October 1, 2025, Central District General Patrol and Foot Patrol officers arrested a 30-year-old suspect after a series of random assaults and property damage to several buildings in the downtown area.

At approximately 9:40 a.m., the suspect attended to a parking lot in the 300 block of Broadway and began smashing vehicle windows. When confronted by a security guard, the suspect struck him with a stick, then stole the guard’s radio and used it to break two windows of a nearby building before fleeing toward Broadway. The guard did not require medical attention.

Once on Broadway, the suspect randomly punched two men (separate incidents), ages 61 and 22. The older victim was not injured, while the younger sustained an upper-body injury and was transported to hospital in stable condition.

Shortly after, the suspect went to a government building in the 400 block of York Street where he damaged more property. Sheriffs at this location detained him until Winnipeg Police officers arrived and took him into custody. While being held, the suspect assaulted one of the sheriffs, who did not require medical attention.
