On September 27, 2025, at 2:20 p.m., Central District General Patrol officers conducted a traffic stop at Fort Street and York Avenue on a 2015 Audi A4 after multiple reports of a road rage incident which had just occurred at Broadway Avenue and Donald Street. Officers arrested the 27-year-old driver and seized a 12-inch hunting knife and sheath, brass knuckles, approximately 16 Grams of Crack Cocaine (Estimated Street Value = $1,300), cell phones, and approximately $1100 CDN currency.

Through their investigation, officers learned that the driver of the above-mentioned Audi and the 35-year-old driver of a 2018 Infiniti Q50 were involved in a road rage incident where both men had exited their vehicles at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Donald Street and engaged in a verbal dispute. The dispute escalated when the 27-year-old physically assaulted the 35-year-old with multiple punches causing him to fall to the ground. The 27-year-old retrieved a pair of brass knuckles from his vehicle and returned to the victim where the assault continued. The 27-year-old turned his attention to the Infiniti, striking it with the weapon, resulting in about $150 in damages.

The victim sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention. The drivers were previously unknown to one another.

The 27-year-old faces the following charges:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Possession of a Weapon x 2
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Mischief Under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment

Officers seized the Audi A4 and issued the driver multiple Provincial Offence Act notices as he did not hold a valid driver’s license. He was released on Undertakings to attend court at later dates.

Road rage incidents have the potential to escalate quickly. The Winnipeg Police Service reminds motorists to remain calm and not to engage with aggressive or angry drivers.  Motorists are encouraged to report road rage incidents to police.
