On September 16, 2025, just before 1:00 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a pedestrian who was seriously injured after being dragged along the tracks near Sutherland/King.

The man in his 20s fell onto the tracks while attempting to jump on a moving train. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service extracted the victim and he was transported to hospital in unstable condition with life-altering injuries. He was later upgraded to stable condition.

A Winnipeg Police and CPKC Police investigation determined the cause was accidental.

The public is reminded to use extreme caution when their activities take them in and around active rail lines. Help stop track tragedies.

Trespassing on railroad property and equipment is illegal and dangerous. Never climb on railway cars, structures or equipment, only cross tracks at designated level crossings and obey all warning devices and signs.
