On August 23, 2025, West District General Patrol officers arrested a 28-year-old man after receiving a report of a commercial robbery at a grocery store in the 600 block of Stafford Street.
Officers learned that the man had attended the store at 5:15 p.m., selected some meat products and attempted to leave the store without making any attempt to pay. When a security guard intervened, the man produced a knife and attempted to stab him. The security guard was punched and sustained minor facial injuries as a result. The man fled empty-handed.
Shortly before 6:00 p.m., officers located the man in the 100 block of Osborne Street and arrested him without incident. Officers found a knife on his person and seized it as evidence.
During his arrest, the man became uncooperative and belligerent with officers, yelling profanities and refusing to identify himself. He was later identified through fingerprint analysis by members of the Forensic Identification Section as Julian Joseph WOOD (28).
WOOD was charged with Robbery, Possession of a Weapon, Obstruct Peace Officer, and four counts of Fail to Comply with a Release Order.
WOOD was detained in custody.
