A stolen vehicle swerving through construction crashes into three vehicles – driver arrested: C25-192499

On August 17 around 12:30 a.m., General Patrol officers were in the Pacific/McPhillips area when a westbound vehicle sped past them and drove through stop signs.

As it approached a construction area in the 1900 block of Alexander Avenue, it crashed into three parked vehicles, leaving them all undriveable. One of the parked vehicles was occupied by a driver who received minor injuries and was treated on scene.

Police took the suspect into custody who was identified and had an outstanding warrant. The vehicle was previously reported stolen and several edged weapons were located during the arrest.

Matthew Craig GIBSON (33), was charged with the following 14 offences:

  • Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
  • Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer
  • Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited by Order Under Criminal Code
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • Possession of a Weapon x 4
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 6
  • Warrant for Fail to Comply with Release Order x 3

He was detained in custody.
