On August 10, 2025, a 36-year-old man was arrested after an off-duty Winnipeg Police officer observed him breaking into a garage in the 100 block of Sterling Avenue. Between 4:27 and 5:00 p.m., two separate retail stores in the 1200 block of St. Mary’s Road reported a theft of merchandise valued at over $1000 combined.

At approximately 5:38 p.m., an off-duty officer saw a man attempting to gain entry into a detached garage in the 100 block of Sterling Avenue. The officer did not require medical attention.

East District patrol officers attended and took custody of the suspect. The stolen property was recovered and returned to the retail stores.

Kyle Victor Lee SCOTT (36) has been charged with break and enter, assaulting a peace officer, resist arrest, possession of break in tools, and theft under $5000. He was detained in custody.
