The Winnipeg Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit is investigating a shooting in the 1800 block of Ellice Avenue where two males were injured.

On July 15, 2025 at 2:42 p.m., West District General Patrol and Tactical Support Team (TST) responded to reports of shots being fired in the 1800 block of Ellice. Officers found two males, aged 18 and 16, suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers provided first aid and Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service transported both to hospital. One remains in unstable condition and is awaiting surgery, while the other has since been upgraded to stable condition.  The injuries are not life threatening.

The Winnipeg Police Service recognizes that safety in and around evacuation centres and temporary residences is important for our community and the residents of northern communities who have been forced to leave their homes as a result of the wildfires.

Our police liaison teams are visiting evacuation centres throughout the city to ensure everyone feels safe and supported. We are working closely with community partners, including NGOs and service providers to promote a safe environment for thousands of evacuees now staying in our city. Additional officers and resources are in place specifically to support this effort.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area and believes they may have witnessed the shooting to come forward. Anyone with information or video is asked to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 204-986-6219 or anonymously at Crime Stoppers 204-786-TIPS or winnipegcrimestoppers.org
